Ronan Cooperative Brewery started as an idea--to provide a place on Main Street in Ronan, Montana for the community to gather and enjoy great craft beer. When no single entrepreneur was found to start the brewery, the community decided that they would all pitch in and own the brewery cooperatively. Today Ronan Cooperative Brewery has over 500 members who all own a share of the brewery. This is truly community-owned beer. Watch this short video to learn about how Ronan Cooperative Brewery formed and the support that Mission West Cooperative Development Center provided to the brewery throughout start up and operations.

On Friday and Saturday nights in the otherwise quiet community of Ronan, the sound of live music can be heard from an unassuming wood-clad building between the drive-in burger joint and the hardware store. This small Western Montana town has become an epicenter for live music, collaboration, and community for local musicians from across the Mission Valley and beyond because of the Western Montana Musicians Cooperative, a membership-based cooperative for musicians, music teachers, and music lovers. The cooperative operates a shared practice and performance space for musicians that allows musicians to jam, rehearse, teach, perform, and practice outside of their homes without having to move bulky musical instruments and sound equipment. The Cooperative Development Center at Mission West Community Development Partners is proud to have provided cooperative development services to Western Montana Musicians Cooperative to help start and expand the cooperative enterprise since its establishment in 2019.
