On Friday and Saturday nights in the otherwise quiet community of Ronan, the sound of live music can be heard from an unassuming wood-clad building between the drive-in burger joint and the hardware store. This small Western Montana town has become an epicenter for live music, collaboration, and community for local musicians from across the Mission Valley and beyond because of the Western Montana Musicians Cooperative, a membership-based cooperative for musicians, music teachers, and music lovers. The cooperative operates a shared practice and performance space for musicians that allows musicians to jam, rehearse, teach, perform, and practice outside of their homes without having to move bulky musical instruments and sound equipment. The Cooperative Development Center at Mission West Community Development Partners is proud to have provided cooperative development services to Western Montana Musicians Cooperative to help start and expand the cooperative enterprise since its establishment in 2019.
